PETITION TO The Legislative Assembly of Ontario: - WHEREAS victims of being trafficked result in a wide range of significant needs. In order to alleviate the suffering of victims and to assist them to recovery, victims need services such as medical assistance, psychological counselling, educational and vocational services, legal and immigration support/advocacy and affordable housing. Dedicated services need to be comprehensive and holistic. Increased support and financial assistance from the provincial government is essential to enhance services for Canadian and foreign national victims. WE the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: - Continue to support the need and urgency for post care for human trafficking victims. Ensure that the funding and programs necessary to assist victims from being trafficked are in place. Increase funding for both short and long term services to assist recovery of victim needs. Services should be focused on human rights and victim-centered. Support the collaboration across multiple agencies and ensure culturally appropriate approaches. Establish trauma-informed programming to meet the unique needs of trafficked persons.
