Stipend for CUSD Dual Language Teachers

Since 1992, Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD) has provided Dual Immersion programs, which offer students a unique opportunity to achieve bilingualism, biliteracy, and multiculturalism. Not only are these students achieving high academic levels in two languages but according to the CUSD’s Dual Immersion Handbook, “At the end of the program students graduate with values of equity and mutual understanding for linguistically and culturally diverse people around the world.” Due to their remarkable benefits and popularity, Dual Immersion programs have expanded since 1992 and CUSD now proudly offers Language Immersion programs at nine sites, including 5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 2 high schools.
At the heart of these programs are the teachers. If it were not for the incredible teachers that are diligently working to maintain the rigor and quality of these programs, the benefits and popularity of Dual Immersion schools would disappear. That is why we, CUSD’s Dual Immersion Teachers, are formally requesting a stipend.
