41,700,000 cattle are slaughtered each year and the number continues to rise. Cattle farming is the main cause of global warming, deforestation, and wasted water. Meat has been proven to be unhealthy time and time again. Big corporations make millions telling you that you NEED meat when you really don't. Big corporations also AVOID telling you the detrimental affects cattle farming has on the environment. We need to AT LEAST reduce the number of cattle that are raised and slaughtered each year by half. Sign this petition to support reducing the number of cattle that are slaughtered each year!

-"Cattle ranching is now the biggest cause of deforestation in the Amazon, and nearly 80 per cent of deforested areas in Brazil are now used for pasture."

- "According to a UC Davis study, it takes just 441 gallons of water to produce one pound of boneless beef—or about 110 gallons for a quarter-pound hamburger."

-"A cow does on overage release between 70 and 120 kg of Methane per year. Methane is a greenhouse gas like carbon dioxide (CO2). But the negative effect on the climate of Methane is 23 times higher than the effect of CO2. Therefore the release of about 100 kg Methane per year for each cow is equivalent to about 2'300 kg CO2 per year."

-"In a 2006 United Nations' Food and Agricultural Organization report, it claims that the livestock sector, most of which are cows, 'generates more greenhouse gas emissions as measured in CO2 equivalent – 18 percent – than transport.' " "Livestock is the largest source of methane gas emissions worldwide, contributing over 28 percent of total emissions."
