Cannistown School Uniform

Absolutely no uniform, I want my child to define herself and not be defined by a uniform, This is something that doesn't stop there .This was not in the policy booklet when my child started and therefore a presedent has been set and that means it is not compulsary for any child already in the school to wear a uniform .

The current uniform is comfortable, cheery and bright. I voted based on the assumption that if the uniform was to be compulsory that the current one would remain. A new and very clear ballot is needed.

I support. The ballot needs to be re-done with crystal clear choices.

Would be a shame to see the colourful tradition of Cannistown kids replaced by a compulsory environment. If it is not broke, and never has been, there is nothing to fix. Why send your kids to a non uniform school and then ask for a uniform? Maybe I'm biased as a past pupil but I just think they have plenty of years ahead of them to be formal and uniform.

I would much prefer the original Cannistown uniform.

I am in favour of the uniform but I would much prefer the original cannistown school tracksuit only.

I voted no for uniform but was happy if the uniform was to become compulsory it would be the existing uniform, that all the children have worn at some stage in their school years.

I feel the board of management were not clear in their ballot re what type of uniform was on offer versus no uniform. The committee then agreed a uniform track suit and the board of management renaged on this and introduced their own full official uniform. This was a sneaky underhand act with no consultation with parents. Is this how we want our school run?? Also the refusal to meet with the parents association or acknowledge the letter of objection shows complete in professionalism and disrepect.

There was no mention in the ballot that the uniform would change if voted in so I feel it was very misleading. The proposed new uniform will cost a lot more than the old given that each child will need 2 uniforms. This is going to push up the already ever increasing cost of the kids going back to school and I feel that it's very unfair to out that additional financial burden on parents.

Very unfair vote needs to be more clear what we were to vote on! Railroaded by the BOM

The kids have long enough to conform to how they dress 5 days a week. The option of no uniform allows them express their individuality. Example being able to dress them in their shorts and tshirts in this nice weather is fantastic and makes a difference to their overall happiness in the school.

If there is to be a uniform I would prefer the original blue and yellow, with the option to wear trainers as was the case 'before"

I understood the vote was for the current uniform being made compulsory or no uniform at all at no stage was it mentioned that the uniform would be what is displayed in the hall. Very disappointed as to how this is all being handled. I would call for this vote to be made null and void due to parents voting on the current uniform and then something else entirely being brought in.

Really not happy how the Board of Management have railroaded this new uniform in. I'm all for a uniform but prefer the original tracksuit only.

I voted no to a uniform.....but if a uniform is to mandatory it should remain the same tracksuit that the school already has!

It's too formal, the long established ethos of the school was no uniform. I'm not against a uniform but I want a more casual approach to uniform such as navy tracksuits/leggings/shorts/skirt it has the yellow polo with crest available for navy tops, with no footwear restrictions
