I don’t see the point in having a senior project. Where will we present it? We canceled senior events, so cancel the project.

As a senior in skyline high school it’s unfair how we’re expected to do a full presentation when research, field research, and civic engagement was barely on the works. This project is to demonstrate other how we have took the initiative to investigate and present a topic we are passionate about. I understand if the essay is due since we’ve been given plenty of time to reassure everyone is able to complete the best written version of their project . Others might say that the presentation should go forward and present since students will be able to have more time to work at home. Realistically there’s no way to do full research without being able to go back it and communicating with professionals as well as doing on hand research that would take more than 2 people to interact. Covid-19 has put a huge strain on seniors since we’re not able to completely have a fair chance in completing the best research we could possibly have.

I cannot finish the senior project at home because personally I get really distracted by the things happening in the world, family, and I get distracted generally without someone(teacher) there to keep me straight.

With this current pandemic going on it’s unrealistic for seniors to complete the senior project to the standards of the teachers. We are already going through many emotions because of the possibility of all of our senior events being cancelled, adding this stress will not make it any better. A major part of the capstone project is civic engagement where we have to go out into our communities to try and make changes. With the shelter in place it makes is impossible to do so. In addition, students need the physical support of teachers because just emailing is not enough. Therefore the most rational thing to do is cancel the senior project.

Even if we still have the senior capstone no one is prepared because people might not have access to certain electronics and most people aren’t even close to done with it.

For us to be expected to complete a project that requires physical support from teachers is unnecessary. The whole entire school year was cut short bc of the virus and other school incidents that we cant primarily focus on the project. Even so students are more worried about keeping their families as their priority during these moments seeing that the events they desperately waited for aren’t and may not happen

It’s unrealistic to expect seniors to put all their effort into completing this project. And it’s also to remember that us students won’t have the same access to resources that we would have had if we were in school.

Cancel the senior project, it is unrealistic and unfair that seniors who’ve had their share of difficult work finally have a break and not have to do this mandatory project. None of us need or want to do it and faculty should definitely reconsider!!

We are already dealing with other issues from the quarantine, the project adds more unneeded stress. Most students are also self studying AP exams during their senior years! If least, cancel presentations.
