Shaka Zulu is a great series, but I wouldn't like to see Robert Redford or Brad Pitt as Chaka, would be offensive to history. Cleopatra was not black... there are hundreds or thousands of black history figures to revive in movies, documentaries, or series. It is like they don't know them.

Historical truth matters! Cleopatra was Macedonian Greek. Modern Egyptians are descendants of Ancient Egyptians.

Didn't realize it's a so-called documentary. Makes it so much worse. This trend needs to end. Glad they are being sued.

As a Greek , this is a Highjacking of my culture and History . There are so many real prominent black historical figures to make a documentary on , why falsify the reality that Cleopatra was not Greek Macedonian .

Historical accuracy is very important when creating a historical period piece; if the creators and sponsors of such work have self-respecting authenticity as their guiding principle, not ideology. Unfortunately, in the drive for addressing and setting right wrongs of the past, much hubris and plain half-learned (un)scholarship gets to be front and center. To counter perceived and/or actual "eurocentrism", "afrocentrism" has arrisen with unscholarly historical revisionism and false claims. Many, jump on it's bandwagon, falsely believing it's claims and becoming afrocentrism's mouth pieces and propagating nothing more than cleverly disguised fairy tales. In this instance, Cleopatra is depicted as an individual of sub-saharan background, a some sort of a warrior princess of a majority sub-saharan kingdom. None of which is accurate, rather far-fetched artistic license entertainment, with woeful misinformation as its underpinnings. To those who will gratitutiously resort to throwing the all too common dog-whistle word and silencing tactic "racism", better check their premise of doing so. Rest assured, it does not have anything to do with that
