I completely support your efforts to cancel midterms.
The American education system is built on the letter grade system. This system can be looked at as very flawed. The system uses student performance in class and gives them a subjective category. What it also does, is takes single tests or exams and weighs them heavily compared to other activities in class. This puts an excessive amount of stress on the students when preparing for these tests or exams. I believe a better way to test the students is to test them using a series of tests with the same amount of importance spread over a series of time, all with appropriate amounts of preparation time.
What makes this system so hard to change for school officials is the fact that it has been the way students intelligence is tested for a number of years, and I believe that some of these officials are unwilling to change this system because of the fear of the new system failing, and the uprising of angry students, faculty, and parents that may result from that. I hope that this petition will show the administrators that change is needed, and change will be for the better, not worse.

The fact that I am being forced to take a test that I have not been adequately prepared for irks me. Also the fact that due to the snow I have not been able to discuss what is on the test with 4/7 teachers makes it ten times harder, especially when three of those classes are AP. It also sucks that on top of all of this stress I have to deal with the stress of applying to college. Midterms, in my mind, are an unnecessary stressful factor during an already stressful time.

You probably think that this is just cause students hate exams. While that may be true, a lot of us are incredibly stressed out due to the lack of preparation and instruction as of late.

We haven't been in a single A day class since before we left for winter break. If they want to have exams, fine but make them optional so it wont harm the students who have good grades yet help those who have bad grades.

My son has been struggling with his work and due to the fact that midterms are still going to happen. I would like for them to be canceled or putback until the material has been covered

I just personally feel that midterms only make things worse. If you do well on the exams your grade might increase by a mere percentage or two. But if you do bad your whole sester grade suffers. All the blood, sweat, and tears (So many tears) all depend on ONE exam. Which is so wrong.
