all of these snow day have been impeding us students from learning more of the curriculum. i think most of us students won't be physically or mentally prepared.

Midterms start in a week, which is not much time left for review as it is. But the inclement weather has caused teachers to push back other assignments, meaning that there will be even less time to review this week. I don't feel very prepared for these exams and I'll only see each teacher two more times before taking them.

my grades are really good right now. if we have midterms then my grades will fall, and it would kill me to bring those grades up without getting in trouble

We have had such little time to study material for midterms, and teachers are just handing us packets of notes to try and finish on our own. If I have to teach myself derivatives and personal finance units that are on the midterm and review for those classes and the rest of my classes, I will not score well on the midterm, and I can say goodbye to my 4.2 GPA.

Midterms are one of the many flaws I see in the current education system. Midterms are often viewed as tests that measure how well a student has learned what they need to, but if midterms are supposed to do this, what are regular tests for? A student can be pushing through a semester of school with perfect grades, only to have them lowered incredibly substantially by a poorly answered midterm test. This student has been proving themself throughout the entire half-year, but the midterm is a single huge test that is supposed to measure something already measured by the earlier tests in the year. Midterms are simply not needed due to the testing already going on in the classroom.
