This is a disgrace to the city.Especially when this is a time to honor the heros who gave their lives to protect this country.

I lived near Atlantic Beach for over 15 years and the trouble has spilled into Myrtle Beeach over the past few years. Our neighborhoods are transformed every year during this weekend that drive families and typical beach going tourists away. Millions of dollars in revenue are being lost and the only way to gain control of our beaches is to work with the hotels. One idea would be to require 5 day minimum stay, $500 deposit per person per room. Things are only going to get worse with more theft, trash, and shootings.

BIkers weekend supposed to be a time of fun, and relaxation. How can you have fun, enoiy the activities and relax when people shooting and killing one another. I do not want to be affiliated with any of this. Shut it DOWN!!!

This event is a nightmare and damages the reputation of this area immensely. It needs to go!

It ruins Memorial Day weekend for everyone except druggies, drunks & now murderers.
People on vacation without bikes can't sleep due to the deafening revving of the bikes which goes on ALL through the night. No one is safe if it's a target for crime, murders, theft.
Bike week draws prostitutes who stand on street corners with body parts exposed. They wait for strangers on bikes to pick them up. Let them go elsewhere!
Myrtle Beach needs to be preserved as a place of rest, relaxation & beauty. Stand up & stop black bike week once & for all.

This NEEDS TO END!!! I made record sales at my store and I don't even care! I'd rather not have my employees or myself feel like they are in danger of being robbed or shot. The streets are horrible, tons of indecency, and just a bad image for the area! This needs to end now!!

Most full time residents that I know stay at home due to the increasing violence and traffic issues during this bike fest. I don't believe the city makes much money due to the increased police force and the damage that is done to hotel property.

We can't be both a family beach and biker paradise. Make a choice and stick with it. The whole month of May is controlled by bikers not residents. Why do we give them this much control over our lives?

Good morning to the Petitioners,
I agree that Bike week has taken a turn for the worse and unfortunately will not get better. I pray for the families that have lost the love ones this year from such a violent incident. I am an avid rider that look forward to coming to Bike Week and have done so for the last 12 years. I come early enough at the beginning of the week to know what areas to avoid, stay in the area still considered peaceful, family oriented and not tasteless. I have been to both White Bike Week, Black Bike Week and the week following. After talking to the locals, most of the employees at the restaurants, tattoo parlors, hotel management and patrons, this is the time of the year that most of the revenue is produced. How it is divided amongst your government is something that will need to be challenged to your local politicians. Most incidents that have occurred have been with local residents or a Carolinian resident. Whether the petition is a success or not, I will continue to patron Myrtle Beach because I have met some awesome & great friends and look forward to seeing them every year until I can no longer ride my motorcycle or drive my car. I may be considered a military city boy but I was born in Sumter and I will always be considered a southern man.
