In Canada, large beverage companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi purchase water for their bottled water products from municipal water supplies, often at a lower rate than the citizens who actually own the water would pay. The following concerned Canadians feel strongly that the practice of selling our water to corporate interests for less than we would pay constitutes unfair and unacceptable mismanagement of our natural resources. We support the introduction of legislation requiring that municipalities charge commercial purchasers at least the same rate that residents pay for water.

I was just reading about how these companies get these massive discounts while the rest of us get charged full price for the exact same pipes and it honestly makes my head spin. It is wild to think about how much water is just flowing right out of our towns for pennies and I am still trying to wrap my brain around how this even became the standard practice in the first place.

I was looking at the screen and realized how much steam this has picked up and it honestly feels a bit surreal that people are actually paying attention to this now. It probably sounds like I am overthinking it but seeing everyone chime in on the local water pricing honestly makes me feel like we might actually get someone to listen to us eventually.

Ridiculous that these massive companies get a discount while my own bill keeps going up. Stop giving our water away for pennies.

If I have to pay full price for every drop at my house then Coke should too. Fix this. Its our water.
