Canadian Sociological Association denounces threats to feminists

Solidarity!

There is no justification for threats made against the faculty and students of this or any department.

These threats need to be investigated seriously, albeit most likely, the threat level is low.

I support this petition put forward by the CSA.

This is 2015, time to accept equity between genders as well as races, classes, ethnicities, sexual orientations and so on. As sociologists and as human beings we should be moving in this direction if we want to make this place a better world to live in for ourselves and for the future of humankind.

I regularly teach Sociology of Gender to large undergraduate classes. My students and I will not be intimidated by misogynists.

These people making threats are cruel and dark. However, we cannot give into the fear. These people can't create real change by themselves so they resort to terrorizing others. We should all try and remain calm and resilient. If we cancel the class we will be playing into their game. We cannot be consumed by the fear and darkness that they live in. UBC has your back.
