I am starting this petition to get the Canadian governments attention, that the mental health system in Canada desperately needs to change. They need to focus on evolving their mental health program. They need to come up with alternative solutions for treatment, services, etc. They need to look at, and understand the CAUSE of a problem, before simply diagnosing and medicating. Inadequate crisis services is also a huge issue in Canada. A good idea would be community crisis centers, open 24/7, for people to drop in if the hospital cannot admit them. More programs in our communities for eating disorders, trauma/anxiety disorders, etc. also need to be made available so everyone can get the treatment they need and deserve. Mental health care should have a direction for the people it serves. For the most part, a lot of the people it serves, are only looking for direction to begin with. We all deserve a chance to live a healthy life. We also need to be listened to.
