Do you believe that the building should be shut down to continue the “asbestos abatement's” simultaneously, instead of section by section

Do you find that this will cause disruption and inconvenience to all students and faculty of this college? This abatement is blocking off the main lobby and it causes students to encircle the building to reach our destination, which is untimely and is disadvantageous. Not only that, the noise level could hinder or deplete our ability to progress in pursuit of our academic goals here at the College of the North Atlantic.

Are you concerned for your safety? According to CNA's website there are approximately 1500 students enrolled, full time, each semester, many of you trust the care of your children to daycare at the college, but to you feel at ease knowing they are in the building during this abatement?

Why is there only "Danger" tape, and a "No thoroughfare" sign near the cafeteria? According to the Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety:

"Signs shall be posted in prominent locations around the outermost entrances to the work area to warn of the asbestos hazard within, and to indicate that only authorized personnel may enter."

If there is nothing to worry about, then why do we need a "safe evacuation once this structure is installed"?

Asbestos poses health risks when fibres are present in the air that people breathe. How exposure to asbestos can affect you depends on:

- the concentration of asbestos fibres in the air;

- how long the exposure lasted;

- how often you were exposed;

- the size of the asbestos fibres inhaled; or

- the amount of time since the initial exposure.

When inhaled in significant quantities, asbestos fibres can cause asbestosis (a scarring of the lungs which makes breathing difficult), mesothelioma (a rare cancer of the lining of the chest or abdominal cavity) and lung cancer.

Is this a RISK you're willing to take?
