Reasons to sign our petition Highway safety Noise pollution Environment Restricted access through and around our village It is important that we protect the Rutland countryside from being overcrowded with too many tents and caravan sites when there are already sufficient sites in and around Rutland for people to enjoy this area. The Camping & Caravanning Club alone have 11 sites already established in Rutland (and there are over 20 sites within a 20 mile radius of Oakham) in addition to this the owner of the Horse and Jockey already has a campsite 1 mile away from this area, should a campsite be put so close to residential properties? Putting these sites in small villages such as Manton will create an added safety issue for all the cyclists and walkers visiting the water. The thriving trade of the Horse & Jockey pub in Manton cater for 100’s of cyclists and walkers most weekends, there is also the fast developing fitness centre and the general increase in people visiting Rutland, St. Mary’s Road has gone from a tranquil road into a busy, congested, and at times potentially dangerous road. This is an open field and provides no screening or privacy of the caravans and tents and therefore will spoil the vista of the village. Lets get the right balance for this lovely picturesque village.
