There a few malae within the Launiusaelua that are infamous such as the Malaeoletalu. I remember when the leaders of the district were in an uproar when the Flag Day raising was moved to Tafuna and they elected to have their own flag raising on the Malaeoletalu because they felt it was a big disrespect to the district that hosted the Flag Day for many years. I ask all our leaders and people of the Launiusaelua to stand with our fellow Fagatogoans and protest this injustice from a leader who has clearly overstepped his boundaries.

The owner of the Maleoletalu are the people of the village of Fagatogo. Not the American Samoa Government. The current governor whom I shall not name has overstepped his authority. This blatant abuse of power must stop now.

These are my stomping grounds as a child growing up; 60's - mid 70's. Been off island for the most part of the last 30+ yrs but I personally wouldn't approve of that Pavillion Waikiki Shell type stage in the first place. Just saying....supporting you all 100%.

Le Malaeoletalu is more than just a historical landmark, but a sacred place for the people our Village. A place where today’s youth of our village gather as our ancestors did before us. A place where the memories of our ancestors and loved ones are tethered and where new ones will be planted. Preserving the malae is not only a matter of preserving a Historical Landmark, but also preserving the opportunity for the future generation of our village to gather as many generations before them have. An opportunity to create memories and partake in a part of our Fagatogo legacy. An opportunity to connect each generation through time.

I am supporting the petition to stop the government from ruining our beautiful Malaeoletalu whom I used to play softball, score n Cricket back then. 4 of my older children were all born there in Fagatogo n 11 grand babies n 2 great grand children will continue playing on that beautiful Malaeoletalu but now half.of it has been paved with cement which will soon.be used as a parking lot for the Fono legislative.
