Quality of life is not only about what you find in the shops; it's about the landscape

Maybe the problem with keeping this field mowed is the equipment used to mow it. You need a large gang mower. Using just a brush hog will take too much time and is hard on equipment. A field like Staplekamp field needs to be mowed at lest every 4/5 days. I had a hard time keeping up using a Jacobson that cut 16' wide. This field is put to good use for Camporee's and other large events. When the lower areas in camp get flooded out this field can be put to use. It is not easy for one Ranger to do the mowing and try to keep up with all the other jobs, I know, been there, done that..

PLEASE maintain the camp our boys fundraise their butts off selling overpriced popcorn for. This program is about the KIDS. NOT council.

Why would you intentionally neglect such a prominent and well used part of a beautiful camp?

If this doesn't happen that would leave a huge negative impact in the camp

Another ridiculous decision by ??? When will more cabins be built at camp? We lost 2 did to flooding. One was saved and is a program space. We need a couple more cabins or units won't be winter camping here.

Unfortunately there is a bigger problem here. The fact that they would rather remove or abandon things than maintain them. Mark my words the teepee is next.

This has been tried before, and never has ended well. While there are other areas at odkt that are also mowed, and there is something to be said for natural prairie areas, Staplekamp is a very highly used program area for EVERY event that happens at camp. Please provide some transparency of justification behind this decision to those of us who are stakeholders, funders, and keep the program going with our children and volunteerism.

Managing a proper prairie does not equal letting the grass grow. Besides the usefulness of the space, in the long run it’s probably more cost effective to mow it anyway.

I’m an active scout leader and an Eagle Scout. I’ve always loved camp OhDaToKa for years and now my boys are getting to enjoy it. Staple Camp field play a huge role in that.
