On 7/17/2007 the worst has happened, the Granholm Administration and MDOC Director Caruso announced they would be closing Camp Manistique by Sept 8th, 2007. This is devastating news for the City of Manistique, Schoolcraft County, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This is equally as devastating for the Manistique Area School District, as the district has the potential to loosing several thousands of dollars to already financially strapped School District. Save Camp Manistique, save our already bleeding community. Save the Upper Peninsula from unfair cuts. Sign this petition, show your support. Show the Governor this beautiful City, Camp Manistique, and the Upper Peninsula need not be a pawn in budget/partisan chess game in Lansing.
