The Living Wage is the hourly rate necessary to cover all basic living costs, such as housing, food, and utilities. It is different from the National Minimum Wage, which is the legal minimum an employer can pay its workers.
It is based on a family of 2 adults and 2 children, with both adults working full time and claiming all benefits and tax credit they're entitled to.

The Living Wage rate in Cambridge is £7.20. The National Minimum Wage is only £6.19.

We are calling on all Cambridge colleges, and the University, all of its Departments, Faculties and subsidiary bodies to pay the Living Wage to all staff they employ.
In a Freedom of Information Request last year, only 1 college paid the Living Wage to all of its staff. 3 more colleges signed up to the Living Wage in principle, but there is still a long way to go.

Please sign and help us in persuading the University and colleges that they should pay the Living Wage. Thank you for your support.
