Cameroonians in South Africa decry exorbitant prices over passport reissurance

On 29 July 2021, a communique was issued with regards to the increase of passport prices in South Africa for Cameroonian nationals.
Unfortunately, the Cameroonians in South Africa especially the ones in the Western Cape through the governing body CAASWECA have these aspects to be looked into;
1. The application fee of R120 ( assuming the application already has this included in the FCFA 110,000 application fee.
2. The processing fee of R750 ( assuming the processing fee is included in the FCFA 110,000)
3. Photocopy of residence permit or photocopy of entry visa into the country of residence.
We are disappointed because these aspects do not necessarily need to be included in the process of the application as they have already been catered for in the application and processing fee of FCFA 110,000 which is done online.
To resolve this issue, the Cameroonians in South Africa believe that the removal of these extra fees be considered while the proof of entry or resident permits not be a criterion for a Cameroonian acquiring their passport as its a right to own a passport.
We look forward to the High Commission for the Republic of Cameroon in South Africa to reconsider these aspects to resolve the issues facing the Cameroonian community in South Africa
