as a parent of a child who may one day need these 'services' i feel ashamed that this is going on in our country. for once, i am not proud to be irish. every home across ireland needs to be investigated and cameras need to be put in place. for those who do nothing are just as bad as those who committed the crime,and this is a crime.

Installing cameras needs to become law, as does accountability of whole teams that stand by and don't report abuse.

As a mother to a very special gift from God, my 10 year old non verbal ASD son, I feel after watching tonight's horrendous documentary on the abuse suffered to those poor ladies, it is vital for cameras to be installed in every area of care, be it schools, care centres or elsewhere , this needs to become a law that cameras as installed to protect all our vulnerable people with or without a voice.

They are not the only ones that need monitoring. My son was restrained in special school and in special pre-school funded by HSE from the age of 4 and he often came home with bruises.

Cameras are the only way that we can catch these people abusing the most vulnerable in care homes. Disabled people are 3-4 times more likely to be victims of abuse, yet the least likely to ever get justice. Give those who have no voice a voice and make staff accountable for their actions.
