Having recently moved to Waxhaw from out of state and thinking i had bought a home in small town America in which to raise my two young granddaughters, I find the idea of commercial development at my back door very unnerving and unsafe. I will sell my property and leave this fair town if this is allowed to happen. If I wanted to live in such conditions I would have moved to Charlotte. Linda Vanderleest

I live in the Camberley neighborhood and am strongly opposed to this development - especially since it will back up to my neighborhood and the Prescott development is still underdeveloped!

The development on Providence Rd, slight past Camberley on the L going toward Charlotte has yet to be fully developed so why is another commercial complex needed? This rezoning with increase traffic, box in Camberley, and decrease our home values. Is another grocery store, more restaurants, and other retail really needed in this area? I strongly oppose this rezoning.

This is far too much for this road. It's dangerous leaving this neighborhood with the traffic as it is.

Slow down with anymore development. We want our quaint Waxhaw back! Too much growth, too quickly! From a 11 year resident.

The town of Waxhaw is not ready for the proposed and current growth rate. This application should be denied until roadway improvements and current infrastructure can meet the demands of the current population.

FYI - I went to the Planning Meeting at Union County Government Center Tuesday, 8/1/17, but was told this zoning request has already been voted on by the Planning Board and the vote was a tie (3:3). The developer was going to bring it back to the Planning Board, but instead has opted to take it directly to Union County Commissioners at the September 5, 2017 meeting. Please encourage others to sign the petition and possibly voice concerns at the Union County Commissioner meeting in September.

I am against rezoning the subject area as commercial. Waxhaw has enough commercial development, vacancies, and graded land in addition to too much traffic. We want to keep our green space and manageable living conditions.

There is already too much empty retail property sitting in Waxhaw and has been so for over a decade. Once those are built out then this can come up for rezoning once again!

This rezoning request is not in compliance with the zoning standards that are already in place for the Town of Waxhaw Highway 16 Corridor Plan. Refer to the Town of Waxhaw Plans, Policies, and Ordinances.

If this rezoning takes place, the county needs to force the builder to increase Rt. 16 lane width and create turning lanes in both directions alone with a traffic light for that entrance to this property. If rezoning takes place and the builder defaults on completion, the zoning should go back to residential zoning!
