As a famlily living on Greenlees Road in Cambuslang, we are concerned with the volume and speed of all traffic, including Heavy Goods Vehicles, travelling on our road. Walking to school with our small children should not be a dangerous daily activity and our friendly lollipop ladies should not be putting themselves at risk Monday to Friday.

With the M74 extension now well established and the Transport Scotland website directing traffic to use Greenlees Road, which is a B road, we should take steps to make our road safe for our children. Also, you may have seen on Facebook and/or the Rutherglen Reformer, the pictures of the car crash a few weeks ago on Greenlees Road near the junction of Brownside Rd and Vicarland Rd. Luckily no-one was seriously injured but it could have been a very different story as the car destroyed a bus stop and garden wall. I originally set up this petition a while ago but I am re-posting as we have consulted Margaret Ferrier MP who is supporting our campaign and contacting SLC on our behalf to introduce traffic calming measures on Greenlees Road. The more pressure we put on SLC, they have to listen and address our concerns. I am not willing to put my kids or the kids who walk to school every day at risk anymore.

Please sign and repost so we can make SLC take notice and do something.
