It is imperative that funding to Early Years be significantly increased to enable Practitioners resource and support children in their care with all needs individually. In the best interests of Equality and Diversity, every child has the right to access supports necessary for them to fulfill their individual potential.

It's a shame how government ignore this serious problem for early years practitioners and how they are inadequately resourced to support children with additional needs.
All children are entitled to reach their full potential if they need help it should be there for them

The HSE pays 8.65 an hour for special needs assistants. This needs to be increased. Children with additional needs need a sna with specialised skills to support and encourage their development. The sna neds to have a high level of knowledge and skill. 8.65 is not enough to employ a practitioner of this standard.

improving quality in childcare cannot happen if practitioners are not at least listened to. we must advocate for children and ensure our voices are heard so that their needs can be met- it is their right.
