CALL TO ACTION - 2026 Dues - Special Meeting
We the undersigned residents of Lake Wylie Woods, while understanding the need for increased monthly dues, find the 2026 expectations unreasonable. The increased dues, coming as they do without sufficient notice represent a financial burden that will force economic hardship on the entire community.
In accordance with our bi-laws, Exhibit G, Section 3, Subsection 4 special meetings "... must be called by such officers upon receipt of a written request from members entitled to cast one-third of the votes of the entire membership."
The residents calling for this special meeting do so with the expectation that the HOA board of directors will honor the request in a timely manner and at a venue, date, and time which is accessible for the majority of the residents to attend. Furthermore, it is expected the board come to the meeting with an understanding that the purpose of this meeting is to address the concerns that surround the sudden increase in monthly dues for year 2026.
The undersigned residents and homeowners are calling for a 25% reduction of the increase in monthly dues for year 2026 for all units and a scaled approach for future increases with a minimum of a 6 month notice.
*UPDATE*
Thank you to all who have participated, the number of signatures and comments left thus far prove this is a cause of concern. In response to our efforts the board has issued a statement encouraging people to attend the annual meeting on Feb 10th. As a point of clarity, the annual meeting does NOT constitute a special meeting however if the board is willing to discuss the concerns listed in the petition, those including a reduction in dues, we will accept that opportunity.
It is noteworthy that the By-Laws do NOT give the board the ability dismiss a special meeting request that was called for by one-third of votes of the entire membership. Which they have blatantly done with their statement issued on Dec 18th 2025.
"With respect to the petition to request a special meeting, the Board does not find it necessary or fiscally prudent to incur the additional expense of convening a special meeting at this time. The Association’s annual meeting is scheduled to occur on February 10, less than two months from the date of the petition. That meeting constitutes the appropriate and established forum for members to raise concerns, ask questions, and provide input regarding the 2026 budget and assessments. Convening a separate special meeting so close in time to the annual meeting would not be in the best financial interest of the Association." ~email titled "Lake Wylie Board Response to Recent Petition."
