Call for Sanctions Against State Trooper in Lee, MA
I have read of and am outraged by the actions of a State Trooper (Officer #2907) in Lee, MA. We allege Abuse of Power by this male officer. We acknowledge that all statements made herein are considered alleged until determined to be factual by the proper authorities.
On the night of Sunday, November 27th, 2011, the officer pulled over a woman traveling alone with 3 small children. Her tags were less than a month expired, her only violation. He yelled at her FOR 45 MINUTES, told her she was not allowed to speak, undeterred by the fact that her children sobbed while he verbally intimidated and berated their mother. When he was done, he wrote her a warning for "unregistered MV", chapter 90-09 civil offense. The officer scribbled his name, rendering it illegible. He checked that no search was done on the vehicle, but searched it in front of the mother and her children.
The officer then had her car towed and left the woman and her 3 young children on the side of the freeway, late at night, with nowhere to go and 200 miles from home with no car. One of her children was left without a coat. The children missed a day of school, the mother a day of work. One of the children had nightmares over the incident and has been left with an indelible memory of the abuse.
She was forced to spend money on a motel room in order to retrieve her car from impound the next morning. The experience needlessly caused a financial hardship of hundreds of dollars spent to rectify the situation.
Once again, all due to her registration tags being less than 1 month expired.
I ADD MY VOICE TO THIS MOTHER'S IN HOPES THAT IT WILL BE LOUD ENOUGH TO FORCE CHANGE. I CALL OUT TO THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS TO INVESTIGATE THIS CASE AND IF THE CLAIMS ARE FOUND TO BE ACCURATE, BRING SANCTIONS AGAINST THIS OFFICER.
