I have been a Mediacom Internet and Cable subscriber for over three years. From day one the service has been unreliable. My bill ( after promotional periods ended ), was supposed to stay around $125 a month as promised by a representative. It has skyrocketed since then to $174 a month and I was promised by a Mediacom CSR it would go up again by January 2015 to possibly $194 a month.

The service is still often spotty, or doesn't work at all. I have been promised repairs and better quality service ( along with lower prices!) for a year now. Nothing has been fixed. I am tired of calling and asking for bill adjustments due to spotty service. I emailed the facebook page and was promised a better option and service repair within 48 hours. I was never contacted. I am going to release this message exchange publicly.

I am going to switch providers, as I now have another option in my area. However, not everyone has this option. For many, Mediacom is their only option and while most I have spoken to forego Cable TV in favor of Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix, they need the Internet for work related reasons.

Mediacom, we ask you improve the quality of your service AND lower your prices. Also, we call for at least a partial refund to all customers, myself included, who were promised service calls and repaired service and never got it.

I am also going to start a petition to AT&T, Comcast, Brighthouse and other Cable Companies to expand their coverage areas to Mediacom areas. If Mediacom has some competition, perhaps they will either fix the unsatisfactory service, discount their prices, or both.
