We call on Oxford City Council to take enforcement action to ensure that a new planning application is submitted for the development at 1 Quarry High Street and that full consideration, under the Steinberg Principle that development should leave the character or appearance of a conservation area unharmed, is given to the excessive height and width of the new building compared to what was originally agreed by the Council in 2006

Concerned about sight lines for vehicles emerging from the new development on to Quarry High Street - heavy traffic area already with cars entering from Quarry Hollow. Clear visibility to all is very important
The buildings under construction are too high relative to all those in the surround area and dominate the vista down Quarry Road and Quarry High Street. They are inconsistent with Quarry being a conservation area.
This building is significantly different from what was approved yet the Local Planning Authority insist that the difference is only minor - in spite of the fact that if the original plans showed the building as built planning permission would be refused.
This building is an eyesore that blights the view as you enter Headington Quarry. This is a conservation area! The building is far larger than it appeared to be in the architect’s impression on the planning site. How was this allowed to happen? Were the plans deliberately misleading?
I wish the council to recognise the difference between the plans and actual build, also the importance of the Steinberg principle. I hope the council does the hard thing, makes the good decision to protect the character of Headington quarry.
This build took about 12 years between planning permission and a start on the foundations being laid. it was noted at the time that the foundations looked very large for the plot of land, concer was shown when a builders fence was erected in the next door council owned property, throughout the build process concerns were raised with the local planning department,but, no action was taken for a long time. towards the end of the build i noticed that approximatly 1.2 meters of metal railings had been removed from the playing field and were at one time lent against a temporary fence, this section of railing eventually disappeared and a tall stone wall was built which was if fact on land not belonging to the persons that owned the building site. i class this as theft of part of the Quarry/Town peoples assets and action should be taken to reverse this land grab.
The old Vallis building is beautiful. The hideous monstrosity next to it is just another level of wrong

Due to another recent development adjoining our property, we have first hand experience of how Oxford City Council Planning Department have allowed the developers to breach the strict conditions of the planning permission they granted.
