As a long time resident of this area, I have personally seen the tidal differences over the last few years. We can't take the risk, move the stored nuclear waste now!

We need safer storage of the San Onofre nuclear waste now. Please provide the legislation needed to make safer storage happen before it's too late.

Stranding radioactive, deadly waste on California's public recreational beach is an existential threat to all California. Who protects California and our coastline?

Sea level rise is happening faster than expected.
The Dept of Energy needs to take action now.
Be active and not reactive, after disaster strikes!
Move the waste away from the surf until a permanent home can be found.

Nuclear bombs and nuclear energy are lethal catastrophes too big to fail, and they’re no accident. Nuclear bombs are designed to be used. Nuclear energy is a planned failure in engineering hubris with a lot of money to be made.

This is really important, and not just for California but, as is so often the case, as a model for other states. Living near Indian Point, I am concerned about waste storage here, and have been advocating for plans to handle damaged canisters. We created the waste, we got the energy and tax benefits, we cannot in good conscience simply ship our problem to Texas or New Mexico—but we need to anticipate and prepare for problems of long-term storage. Thank you for leading the way.

This is why we moved to another nuclear free state.

Conduct the study before it's too late and get the waste to a less dangerous site ASAP. $$ Profits will be worthless for owners once they;'re killed off by an industry and nuclear site that even Admiral Hyman Rickover stated that he thought would exterminate the human race - that from the "Father"of the nuclear Navy.

There's no nuclear waste site in the US like San Onofre: 3.6 million pounds of waste within 108 feet of rising seas, vulnerable to tsunami, earthquake & terrorist threat located near over 8 million residents. The deadly waste is exposed to the elements & a stone's throw from California's largest most congested shipping & worker commute corridor, Highway 5. All containers for the waste are temporary and degrading with no plan for permanent containment, nor a backup plan in case of a damaged canister. Our Federal regulators residing far from San-Onofre tell you that this scenario is risk free, despite expert scientific evidence to the contrary. They have no permanent storage solution, nor is there a plan for permanent containment to protect public health, life and property.
It's time for California to take the lead in protecting its precious resources, residents and way of life.

The nuclear industry is making decisions based on "commercially reasonable solutions". It is time for us to take control of how our decommissioning funds are being spent. The best solution may not be profitable, but it sure would be a wise investment!
