California Government Code 6254.21 allows elected officials to opt-out of online resources and publications. Due to new technologies and threats we proposes the California Legislator to update the Government code to address these new threats: 1. Allow elected officials in California to request to remove their name from the county assessor role and tax rolls. 2. Expand the Government Code to allow removal of personal information from Blogs, Tweets, Facebook and other online media.

Updates

May 27, 2018

Elected officials face real digital threats that current laws simply do not address. Send a direct email to your representative today demanding they modernize these protections for public servants.

May 27, 2018

The momentum behind this update to our safety laws is clear and growing fast. Take a moment to email your state representative right now and demand they prioritize this protection. Post the link to your Facebook page to ensure our local officials understand that the public is watching.

Public officials who work for enforcement agencies, both sworn and non-sworn, should have their personal information protected at all costs.

Protect the people who protect you, and ensure that peace officers and their families are always safe by allowing them to remove their personal information from public and private search engines.

It is amazing what parolees will do to locate officers they blame for them going to prison. No officer's name, address or telephone number should be available for them to search out.

All information about law enforcement officers should be removed.
