There is some corncerns regarding the review of school transport. Powys County Council are looking in to the costing of the School Transport and looking into TAKING AWAY our choices of where we want our children to go to school. For many years now WE have had the right to decide which Secondary School we think is best for our children. The choice between Llanidloes High School or Newtown High School. Last summer, a consultation document was circulated by Powys County Council about the review of the School transport which they are undertaking. I personally never heard or saw this document and am ONLY NOW BEING TOLD that it became apparent that the choice between the two High Schools may be coming to an end !!! There is a document in school which states that under the revised school transport policy pupils will be transported to their nearest school, the following areas have been identified as the main ones that will be affected. Our children from the Carno/Caersws areas at PRESENT are provided with transport to enable them to attend there choice of school. Under the review they will only be provided with transport to Newtown High School. So does that mean that our PRESENT children at Llanidloes High School have to leave the school. Disrupting their education at the most important time of their life, leaving friends behind and starting again !!! NO THANK YOU I SAY !! If the PRESENT CHILDREN ARE ALLOWED to stay at Llanidloes High School what happens to their younger siblings it is a hard life lesson going from primary school to high school and it is always made easier by the older sister or brothers to show them that high school isnt so bad after all. I am concernd that if we do not put up a fight to stop Powys County Council our children will suffer.
