CHANGE CALIFORNIA TINT LAW

Live in Palm Springs area many people tint their windows anyway, including myself. Just wish I didn't have to be penalized for just wanting to block UV rays and reduce heat in my vechicle.

I don't understand why not allowed light blue window tint, Police can completely see inside vehicle..

The officer who unlawfully ticketed me gave a completely different reason for the law- explaining to me it was so law enforcement could see whether or not the vehicle operator was wearing a seatbelt or using a cell phone. I feel this law is not only unconstitutional and unnecessary but also biased towards people of color or otherwise curious to prying police officers.

Definitely agree that they should change the law on the window tint. And start in forcing more security and strictly laws in schools to prevent any type of act of crime.

I agree completely with the author. Even if someone has dark windows I feel the officer shouldn't be able to cite the driver if the windows are rolled all the way down when the officer approaches so they can feel safe

Here in Southern California specifically the coachella valley, where temperatures reach excess of 110 degrees fahrenheit, window tint is a necessity for inhabitants in order to keep from being baked like a rotisserie chicken whilst driving during the daylight.

I completely agree that this law is only weakly supported to help officers feel a sense of safety. But that argument is complete rubbish given that we're already expected to roll down our windows when we are pulled over. The only thing this law truly achieves is taking money from the public by having us pay to correct a "problem" and that doesn't include the outrageous court dismissal fees!

Change the law

This law is completely outdated! I have family & friends in law enforcement, if they are concerned about there safty when pulling over a vehicle with tinted windows they have the driver roll down the windows, and even possibly have the driver put their hands outside of it. I have been told that this law is a complete waste of their time, and is done in a last ditch effort to meet quotas. Yes you heard me "QUOTAS". Come on California!

Owning a black interior car sucks.

It just makes no sense to have a 35% difference between CA and adjacent NV state.

Its ridiculous that people cant tint there windows. But everyone does it evem cops it a stuped law and just another way for them to steal another dollar from u.

Please have the tint law changed to something more reasonable like 35% to 25%. It really helps with the heat.

Washington and Oregon's law is 35% and I've lived there its way less hot and sunny there. Its just California finding ways to suck way more money out of us. And local cops told me its mostly chp that enforces it.

This drought is real and my kids being in the car are burning. Something reasonable as 35% would make a big difference.

I agree this is a stupid law that needs to be changed all the states that border ca allow 35per cent or lower there is no reason we need to burn up in the sun.

Tired of getting tickets

Having very sensitive eyes, my tint helps me simply SEE the road. Tired of the tickets.

Health is also another good argument. I suffer from terrible, uncontrolable acne. In California not even a doctor's note is allowed to be exempt to tint your windows to a comfortable percent level. Privacy is also another great point. If they can't see what's in there. They wont risk their neck on breaking a window only to find nothing worth stealing in the car.

With the excessive heat and constant sun that many of us experience in California, 70% light is a ridiculous regulation. Every one of California's border states allows for darker tinting.

Sick of it being a revenue game for LEOs. It's too hot during the day and it ruins the interior of my vehicle. I have no issues with being required to lower tinted windows in the event of being pulled over.

Its too hot here in California with black interior change this law.

Yes, I don't agree with the laws. The place of California where I live, 115 degree is for sure in the summer.

Please change the law! Being from So-Cal way more sun then clouds and rain! need to protect ourselves from the heat!

I will post this everywhere. I live in san diego where out of 365 days 350 of those days are 75 degree plus temp

All for tint since the UV rays aren't getting any better and it is what not causing us more skin issues!

I have a 2003 Chevy S10 pickup I was pulled over by the police for tinted windows I believe that I was pulled over because they thought I was a young kid driving he was speechless when he seen a alder man sitting in the driver's seat and he let me go with a warning Window tint laws are just for pulling people over not to mention there was 5 other cars around me with tinted windows

35% is a reasonable amount of light passing through no reason the law can’t be set to that. 70% blocks next to nothing.

I should be allowed to do whatever I want to my vehicle.

So...its perfectly legal to modify my gender but illegal to modify my car. yeah, sounds perfectly reasonable, thats why nobody likes california. because of our braindead lawmakers and governor.
