This petition will be presented to the Progressive Conservative government of Canada, in attempt to get them to support bill C-278. Bill C-278 is a private members bill to extend EI sick benefits from 15 weeks to 50 weeks for persons with Cancer, quarantine, or prolonged illness. Currently people fighting illnesses in Canada only get support from the Government for 15 weeks and then are left to fend for themselves. Currently there is a 51 billion dollar surplus in the EI Fund, which Canadian workers have accumulated themselves. Please ask the PC Government of Canada to support this bill on June 8th.

The government is sitting on a huge surplus while people lose their homes after getting sick. Disgusting.

FIX THIS NOW. 15 weeks is a joke for anyone with a serious illness.

My niece had cancer and the stress of losing her benefits made her recovery so much harder. Do the right thing for once.

15 weeks is not enough when you are fighting for your life. my husband ran out of time way before he was even close to being healthy enough to work again. this is common sense.
