We ask that the contract between BYU and off-campus housing facilities to be approved for off-campus BYU housing be amended to include specific requirements designed to ensure adequate bicycle parking. Similar to the restriction of one refrigerator for up to six people, we propose that property management companies be required to collect information each year during a fall or winter semester of how many residents own bicycles and provide enough bicycle parking structures designed to accommodate each bicycle. Individual complexes may petition for exemption to this restriction by submitting an alternative bicycle parking solution plan that reasonably accommodates the same bicycles. Many students have had their bicycles impounded for locking their bikes in the wrong places because there wasn't sufficient bicycle parking.
