It has been proven in many studies that children that ride the bus in excess of 45 minutes to an hour to and from school fall behind other children their age academically and socially. The longer bus rides for these students take away from after school activities and time to be able to do their school work, not to mention time with their families. We were told that when the schools realigned no child would have to ride the bus longer than an hour. My 10 year old son is proof that this is not the case. He will be getting on the bus at 6:30 in the morning and ride the bus for approximately and hour and twenty minutes. Let me point out that our house is about a 5 minute drive to his school. I am standing up for my child and will not let him fall behind because of this. Remember if the school is allowed to do this now, even if it does not affect your child this year, it could in future years. Please sign this petition in support of shorter bus runs for the well being of our children. If you believe no child should have to ride the bus longer than 45 minutes I need your support.
