Calling on Glasgow City Council to commence an independent review of the video camera enforcement of bus lanes in Glasgow.

Glasgow City Council are using this as a cash cow and are not even administering it fairly and properly as I have just experienced. Every bus lane must have a BIG sign stating the times when restrictions are in force. They can't even abide by their own rules, and fie people indiscriminately.

Unjustified vexacious enforcement when no buses

No-one I know is sure what the bus lane rules are. There should be LARGE signs explaining the regulations.

I was fined for using a 24 hour bus lane briefly to pass a car which was waiting to turn right. This was after 8 pm in the evening when my side of the road was quiet and I caused no hold up to any other vehicle. It added insult to injury that I was very close to the end of the bus lane. The camera is placed at the end of the bus lane!

Bus lanes should only be used during peak times as happens in other cities. These lanes must be strayed into mistakenly by visiting motorists as they think the lanes must be open to cars as they as they are so quiet. Many visitors must leave with a bad feeling about Glasgow after being caught out by these 'traps'. 24 hour Bus Lanes are nothing more than a joke! What is their purpose?

Bus lanes are only needed during peak times as in other cities. Then they do their job and don't just catch out drivers who stray into them thinking they are out of use as they are so quiet, particularly visitors to Glasgow.

This greed for money by GDC can lead to road accidents as drivers may have to swerve to avoid bus lanes.

Glasgow City Council should do what is right and own up to their intentions.

No need for bus lane cameras outside the morning and evening rush. And then, only in the main flow i.e. towards the city in the morning and away from the city in the evening.

Disgrace

Routes must be reviewed. The roads also should be in much better condition considering we are paying a for it.

I was fined for undertaking a broken down car that was in a junction which was stopping traffic flowing. Clearly common sense, the right to travel freely, or the drivers right to take avoiding action to avoid blockages/hazzards in the road have all now been removed. I thought this was all to make the city flow more easily - least thats what the council leaders are continually saying in the media. oh no its not.... its about making money. Maryhill road has 2 camera's on it (that i know of). Both cameras monitor a right turn across oncoming traffic There is no doubt that the placement of these cameras is a deliberate and calculated decision by the council to generate as much revenue as possible from fines. Surely this placement of these cameras is a form of entrapment? A public enquiry should be called for - not just a review.

There is poor signage in particular bus lanes which are in operation 24/7
