In last week's (12th October 2011) Business School SSLC meeting, the staff announced to class representatives that the 2012 May exam period would run from the 30th April until the 13th May. This period would allow for 10 working days of exams. Since the Business School do not have exams in December, the majority of honours students will have 6 exams in this period. To put this in perspective, the best situation we can have is one exam every 1 and a half days! And in the worst situation we could have 6 exams in 3 days. This is an entire academic year's work crammed into a ridiculously short period. The stress and pressure of this situation will undoubtedly leave us mentally and physically exhausted and will consequently hinder our performance. How can the staff expect us to work to the best of our ability? We propose that the Business School extend the length of the exam period for May 2012 to 4 weeks and also consider introducing December exams for 2012. We ask that you please sign this petition to show your support of these changes.
