Buses for Kids

Our three children have been enrolled since ECE at SWWFS. Walking many blocks to the metro and then several more once reaching the metro stop took a toll on the little ones, particularly when the weather was unfavorable. It also created a stressful situation for parent volunteers who were caring for multiple students. I echo other parents' sentiments that it would be wonderful to have a DC school bus to cart ECE students to and from the museums or libraries. My little ones are no longer in ECE but I believe strongly that it is a worthwhile investment.

Just the fact that we live in an area with so many educational treasures and resources, which our local students can not access due to transportation, should compel DCPS to review this policy for change.

My son Leo is now 5 but has been a student at SWWFS since he was 3, walking many blocks to the metro and then several more once reaching the metro stop. As a parent who volunteers on field trips, managing Leo and at least 2 other kids is beyond stressful. It would be wonderful to have a DC school bus to cart us to and from the museums or libraries. I think you'd have more parents volunteering and far less stress.

I certainly applaud the initiative and the effort to allow students @ SWWFS have access to school buses for off campus activities. Reaching the metro with numerous young kids is challenging and can be dangerous at times. Thank you!

There is no reason why these buses which are sitting idling are not available to students. Why is there so much red tape with everything DCPS and OSSE do? Kids come first!!

It only makes sense when you look at the distance from our school to the Metro and how dangerous the streets are that have to be traveled by the children.

I am a Parent and School Counselor at SWWFS. I truly believe that our students should have access to school buses for field trips.

I'm parent of a Pre-K 3 and K childs. I strongly support that cause. I've been chaperoning some field trips with small kids and there is a danger involved that could be easily avoided. Thanks
