The city hall finally backed down and agreed to restore the permits for our terraces. It has been a brutal fight to save these businesses but your support helped us reach this result. We will stay alert to ensure they keep this promise before the next season begins.

Les pedimos vuestro apoyo para pedir un cambio en la normativa que aplica el ayuntamiento de Altea, en pleno mes de agosto, con la reducción drástica de las terrazas condenando a la ruina nuestros negocios de los que depende la economía de muchas familias de Altea.
Actualmente se está quitando y multando a las terrazas (cuando los años anteriores se nos han autorizaba), dando una mala imagen a los turistas y destruyendo nuestros previsiones para estos meses, en que tenemos personas contratadas a las que tenemos que despedir, sin estudiar caso po caso.
Os pedimos vuestra firma para que se regule una normativa racional y justa de convivencia entre vecinos, restaurantes y turistas, consensuada antes de la temporada alta.
We are asking you for your support to request a modification of the regulation that the City Hall of Altea is applying in the middle of August. The regulation requires the drastic reduction of terraces which will lead to the financial ruin of our local businesses upon which many families in Altea are economically dependent.
They are currently removing terraces and handing out fines (this is regardless of the fact that they had authorized these very same terraces just last year and years previously. This act has given a bad image to Altea and is disrupting our business activity during these months and has even led to the laying off of employees. They have done it without studying the consequences nor taking it case by case.
We are asking for your signature in support of a modified regulation which is rational and fair for the neighbors, business owners and tourists of Altea and will be applied before the end of the high season.

This terrace has only pedestrians and no cars. There are no wheel chairs, as it is in the old town of Altea and it is impossible for wheelchairs to pass because of the stairs, not because of the tables. It is ridiculous! If you measure, they even obey the law. There is no excuse for this nonsense!
We live in Casco Antiguo:near to many restaurants and bars. These establishments are a vital and intrinsic part of life in Altea. The Ajuntamiento is being very short-sighted in imposing these draconian measures!!
La mayor fuente de ingresos de Altea es el turismo. No lo ahogueis. Debéis permitir las terrazas, las cuales son disfrute para nuestros visitantes, fuente de ingresos para nuestro pueblo, puestos de trabajo y desahogo para estas pequeñas empresas.
I live in Altea & nothing gives me more pleasure than being able to go down to the sea front & sit outside in the fresh air & have a drink & something to eat..Taking table & chairs from outside of bars would be terrible for the patrons & the owners...Lesley Jones
please don't remove the street terraces , I lived in Altea 20 yrs ago , we had a little restaurant on the paseo , and it was great for business and community spirit to have tables outside . it generates business and a lovely atmosphere

As a tourist small cafes and restaurants with outside tables is the core of relaxation and inspiration. Without this Altea is not an attraction for me.
