This is a collective call to action for parents, staff and taxpayers of Burlington, MA. We are requesting the immediate removal of Patrick Larkin from his position as Assistant Superintendent of Burlington Public Schools. He has caused irreparable damage in the relationship between parents in this district and the administration by his slander of concerned parents on social media. Mr. Larkin is allowed the freedom of speech and his opinions are his to choose. However, given the choice of his words, we no longer feel he has the best interest of students and we certainly no longer feel supported as parents. We will not feel comfortable reaching out to him in the future with any valid concerns and issues in fear that we will be mocked, disparaged and falsely labeled. There is no excuse for this lack of professionalism. Just like we teach our children, what you say on social media lives on forever. Choose your words carefully. Mr. Larkin needs to be held accountable for his poor judgement.

We have lost confidence and trust in Mr. Larkin as a leader for this district. We have lost confidence and trust in Mr. Larkin as a champion for our students and an educational partner to parents in this district. We no longer wish for him to represent our district at any level since it is clear he does not take our concerns seriously. We no longer wish to be insulted by Mr. Larkin. Our hope for the future of Burlington schools is mutual respect, unity, and a true community where everyone is welcome. Mr. Larkin's opinion of us and dismissal of our valid concerns does not align with those goals. We expect more from our leadership and believe they should be held to the highest standards.
