You pay so much in taxes and your mortgage and can hardly do anything that plenty of other ordinances allow. People survive just fine having chickens.

They are helpful in many ways producing compost for gardens and giving eggs of course. Although they may smell there’s many ways to control odor with things like first Saturday lime and more products. It’s very minimal effort to care for them maybe 10 minutes a day just to bring feed and water in the morning and take away at night. They are also like emotional support animals as you find a sense of purpose and you love them. It’s a big effort in the beginning and costly but only the beginning, to make the coop and buy supplies you’ll need for their care etc. I think the town can create a panflet with info on all this, describing all implications and responsibilities and cost. People then can decide whether they can go through with the compromise or not.

My kids really miss our chickens that we had to give away due to the concerns one of my neighbors. I agree there’s need to be a change in our suburb.

Chickens are clean and help keep the mosquito population down. Who doesn't love fresh eggs in the morning? I can understand not allowing roosters because of the crowing but hens are quiet.
