There is a large population in Battle Ground and north (La Center, Amboy, Yacolt) whom's closest pools are Kid's Club or The Y at 503. That is a 30+ min drive for most. A Y in Battle Ground will serve the north county and will be well used.

I would gladly pay an extra $10 in taxes for our very own BGYMCA. We loved going to the one in Vancouver, but since we moved out to Battle Ground, the distance makes it tough for our family to make regular visits. Unfortunately we had to discontinue our membership to the Vancouver YMCA because of the added travel time.

We have lives in and around Battle Ground our entire 40+years. We have been making the drive to YMCA in Vancouver for over 15years for kids swiming. Battle Ground desperately needs a family centered place like the YMCA. When they put in the skate park I would have rather seen that money and location for the YMCA. Come on BG, let's get this done!

I believe this would be a huge positive impact for all battle ground and surrounding areas the youth need something positive to focus on

I was a former Community Fitness Director at a brand new YMCA in Southern California. It was so popular that residents wanted it to be bigger! I led the Youth & Government program and saw many of those high school students graduate from college and pursue fields in politics. The Y offers so many benefits to a community.

North county is underserved with regards to community pools. I am a Hockinson resident, so I can't sign the petition, but as a swim parent I am in full support and would be willing to help get a pool to North county. The lane rental fees from the surrounding school districts would go a long way in paying for the pools. Currently BGHS, PHS, HHS, LaCenter HS have to drive to and pay lane rental fees to the Vancouver YMCA for practices and meets. Rental fees would be in the tens of thousands per year and an enticing shorter drive for parents to daily practices could get more kids and schools like Ridgefield, involved in HS swim. One thing also to think about is a 50 meter pool. It would increase pool building cost by over double compared to a 25 yd pool, but this could bring regional, state and national competitions to the area, increasing tourism revenue for BG. The nearest long-course (50m) pool is at Mt. Hood CC in Gresham. It is an outdoor pool so limits it's annual usage. An enclosed pool area would create a year-round revenue stream. Great work so far. I would love to get involved. Buck Gaines Hockinson, WA
