Final supporters
I believe tennis is a wonderful lifetime activity that my community should support. I also think that the Decatur High tennis teams should have true home courts to practice and host matches on.
Now we have the opportunity to meet both goals by building at least 10 lighted courts on a small footprint of the 77-acre site of the former United Methodist Children's Home, for use by my community and DHS teams.
Let's prioritize tennis courts at UMCH!

I was back over at the site today just looking at all that empty space and honestly it is maddening that we have to fight this hard for something as simple as tennis courts. People keep mentioning how much they miss having a local place to play and I am keeping a long list of all the parents who are just waiting for a place for their kids to actually practice close to home.

We used to have courts at McCoy Park but those were converted to the Skate Park. We clearly have the need for more courts and I strongly encourage COD to include courts in the plan for UMCH.
There are definitely not enough tennis courts in Decatur to accommodate all the city's rec teams, ALTA teams and the school teams. We typically have to leave the city to find an available court if we want to play tennis. Please consider building more courts - they won't take up much room!
Having to reschedule matches because of weather is becoming more & more of a nightmare on limited courts with 3 leagues per court and several teams per league.
Tennis is an enjoyable and beneficial team AND individual sport that males AND females can enjoy virtually for a lifetime. --submitted by an 80 year old grandmother who enjoys tennis weekly yearround
There is a huge tennis community in Decatur!! It is silly not to have facilities to accommodate the HS team. We don’t need more condos or retail space. Tennis courts would be wonderful!
I support Tennis Courts at the UMCH not only for DHS students but for all the residents in COD.

Please consider making these courts multipurpose, by making the lines ready for pickle ball as well and allowing the nets to be adjustable. Providing these facilities for Decatur Schools and for community recreation would be a great boon for all.
