Build Better Elder Care

Is this how one would wish to see one's loved ones end their days? Southbridge have shown that they do not care for Port Hope, rather than their profit. We do not need this eyesore in our town.

This definitely should not be permitted.

Once again we are dependent on our elected officials to support the life blood of our town. Why are we satiating a very questionable company that has the ability to destroy what makes this town different and beautiful? Please please really see what is in front of our faces.

This seven-storey monolith signals a first instance of turning this quaint small town into just another extended borough of the "golden horseshoe". Once precedent is set, there will be no turning back for future construction of such buildings , anywhere within the municipality.

Tearing down a beautiful old building with so much history is not what Port Hope is known for. So many other places to build this monstrosity if that is what people really want

I work in LTC. Elderly people, in general, prefer to be closer to the ground. The higher from the ground, the more they wish to get down. Multiple stories invite 'exit seeking' and suicidal ideation, ie. wanting to jump.

Shocking

The Southbridge propoposal, simply put, places Profits before People.

Malfeasance by David Piccini, and all members of the Conservative caucus, led to the unnecessary suffering and deaths of vulnerable seniors. This is just one more step towards the killing and abuse of more, fundraising dollars being more imports than human lives. This needs to end.

It appears Southbridge is far more interested in warehousing older adults (for profit) than providing a real home -like atmosphere.

This town is being inundated with urban construction, in the form of subdivisions and big projects such as this. It is time to put an end to this needless, wasteful growth and serve the community, including seniors with high quality living befitting the small town of Port Hope, which has been the case historically

Not in keeping with the Port Hope I have known and loved all my life. I hope we remain a community committed to quality of life and beauty of community, in all of its facets.

The proposed building tells us that Southbridge is more concerned about profits than quality senior's care. At the November 3rd meeting the architect proudly blurted out that each floor had a balcony as if that would provide enough access to the outside world. A person with mobility issues would have problems getting outside from any of the upper floors of this monstrosity. Perhaps Southbridge hopes their clients will just stay on their floors.

This development will ruin the neighbourhood. A parking nightmare will ensue. I believe the VERY poor quality building at south of the property shall be kept. It should be the first to go! Saving crap and tearing down the old hospital, a high quality building ( I was born in) and building another crappy ersatz building is not an option.

Port Hope deserves and must demand a better care residence for our seniors and our town.

This high-rise is entirely out of place in an older established neighbourhood!
