I think Colm Meaney deserves the recognition, fantastic Irish actor, and a beloved character.

I think of no greater representation of Irish culture, intelligence, character and technical ability than Chief Miles O'Brien. Also, the cost of the statue would surely pay for itself with the tourist euros it would be sure to bring in.

A sorely underrated character, was glad to see him in DS-9 showing some true grit as leader with "I'm Chief Miles Edward O'Brien. And I'm very much alive, and intend to stay that way!" and an inspiration to us all with some words to live by "I'm no angel, but I try to live every day as the best human being I know how to be. I need my little girl to wake up in the morning and look up at me and see a man she can respect."
