The children in Altonhill area of Kilmarnock have no play
Park . We would
Like to have as many signatures as possible to send to East Ayrshire Council on behalf of the children in this community . This is the only council area in Kilmarnock that does not have a play park .

Research states that having a play park gives children the opportunity to have fun and he healthy at the same time . Play parks help develop children’s holistic needs . By holistic , I mean Social skills , physical health , cognitive development through play , social skills , emotional well-being. It also means that children in this area have a place to meet up and interact with each other . All they have is an empty field that is water logged . Time spent outdoors on a playground is also time spent away from screens .

Playgrounds are a fun, exciting place for children and families to gather together for recreation, but as you can see they are much more than a place to play. Within every climber, slide and swing; behind every laugh, shout and smile are countless benefits that improve quality of life for children now and for the rest of their lives.

Updates

March 19, 2021

Seeing the momentum grow feels surreal after so many weeks looking at that empty, waterlogged field. It is exhausting work, but knowing people recognize how much these children deserve space to play keeps me going.

As we know children thrive from playing. We have no playpark in the area for our children to play, if we want to go to a park we need to take them to Dean Park and other parks outwith the area. This is not fair as their is obviously a class divide as this is considered a deprived area. The area behind the recycling centre has a park and it makes me question why? Is it because these houses are private? We only want somewhere for our children to play and have the same chances in life as any other area. Please consider this when looking the petition.

I stayed in altonhill for ten years with my four children and there was nothing for the kids to do they would benefit so much from a swing park.

The children of this community deserve to have a play park and have fun as much as any other. Please don't deprive them any more.

Hi Rosie , the previous play park was set on fire by teenagers many years ago . It was never replaced . When I was younger , we had goals , park, youth club . Now there is nothing in the area . Thank you for signing ❤️
