We, the undersigned, are parents, teachers, neighbors, and members of the Wharton DLA and Neartown community. We are committed to having the best Wharton DLA built as possible and that includes using the current baseball field area as a multi-purpose recreational green space for students and local residents.

We are also committed to being good neighbors and pledge to help the Neartown Little League Association find a new home in the Neartown area.

This much needed project is funded by taxpayer dollars for the benefit of the students and families of Wharton. The full extent of the HISD-owned property is needed to ensure the efficient and successful implimentation of these funds. Our children's education is priority number one.

This is a common sense proposal that must be seriously considered. Adding to Montrose traffic and parking headaches, cutting down beautiful old trees, and denying space to the majority of kids does NOT make sense.

As an involved parent, it is frustrating to see the limitations the school has in parking, playground space, and physical education space. Allowing the school to maximize its space with upcoming growth demand will benefit the children in many ways. We hope this petition will be heard and the school will be able to utilize the much needed land space.

I am an educator and my child attends Wharton. She also plays for the Neartown Little League. I am in support of the school. Education must come first and we have very little space as it is. Recreation and Little League are important so I hope we can find a place for them to relocate. There has been a lot of misinformation floating around on this topic.

I also live in the Wharton neighborhood and my son is a 7th grader at Wharton Middle School, one of the highest achieving public middle schools in the entire Houston area. Wharton students, teachers and staff are in dire need of more space which will enable them not only to grow but to provide a greater range of elective classes to all of its students. Indeed, our school needs every inch of space on its property.

Living in the neighborhood over 21 years I strongly support the Wharton Dual Language Academy vision to use the current baseball field area as a multi-purpose recreational green space for students and the neighborhood. We really needs this green space in our community, as more and more people moving here.
