Our Schools need more attention now than ever. We need to restore America's competitiveness and innovation edge and education is our biggest ally. By cutting education budget, our government is robbing our future generation. We need a united voice for the sake of our kids' education We, a group of concerned parents of kids in Fremont Unified School District and other signatories, protest the cuts that the Fremont Unified School District plans to impose for the coming 2009-2010 school year. The planned increase of 30 to 1 in Kindergarten: -Academic research shows that this puts our most vulnerable students in jeopardy - Student safety will be at risk -Teachers will not be able to differentiate instruction -Students academic, social, emotional, and physical development will not be as effectively addressed The planned increase of 32 to 1 in Fourth through Sixth Grade: -Less time to differentiate instruction -Students at risk will not meet NCLB requirements Less prep time for teachers: -Teachers will have less time and more students to plan instruction and prepare materials -Less time to learn and fully implement the new math adoption -There will not be efficient time to collect and review data for OARS Elimination of the Library Technician: - Students will not be able to check out books - Reading development of all students will suffer - Interest in reading will wane Elimination of the Science Prep position: - How will our students progress in science without a dedicated science teacher in elementary schools Elimination of the Vice Principal position: - Major work load increase for principals - Discipline problems will increase as no one will be able to supervise the discipline policies as outlined in our handbook - Who will cover the logistics of textbooks, testing materials, ELA, and other duties Cuts to maintenance: - Less hygienic classrooms - Need additional staff/time to avoid OSHA violations We, the undersigned, protest these cuts the Fremont Unified School Distrct plans to impose on schools across the district.
