I agree with the thoughts regarding the Delta variant.

The Delta variant is so much more transmissible than anything we’ve seen. Please protect our children under 12 as well as those already vaccinated as we are seeing an uptick in cases. We already know that closed indoor settings for a prolonged period of time are the most risky. Why take that risk with our future?

We can not make radical decisions when it comes to the lives of children. The delta variant is more contagious and we will see a spike beginning late fall. CBSD needs to follow the guidance of 2 major health organizations and NOT the local health department.

Please please also consider to require unvaccinated school employees who are not vaccinated to be required to wear a mask

Protect our unvaccinated vulnerable children! Viruses mutate. That's what they do. It is the school board's job to adjust to the virus as it changes, and protect our children until they can be vaccinated! Follow the CDC and AAP mask guidelines!

Immunologist Vaccination works. Until COVID vaccines are available to all members of our school communities, all students, faculty, and staff should be masked, per the guidance of the CDC and AAP.

As a therapist who works in early intervention- I am deeply concerned over the decision to make masking optional, particularly for our elementary school students who cannot be vaccinated at this time. We KNOW that delta is spreading rapidly and that our unvaccinated children are vulnerable. It is deeply irresponsible to drop mask mandates in our schools. At the very least- each grade should offer a mask-required classroom so that parents may choose to keep their children safe while sending them to school.

Protect the young children who aren't vaccinated yet. Please enforce masks!

As a mental health professional, I believe it is important to provide in-person school at this time. However, based on recent infection and the inability for kids under 12 to be vaccinated, I think it is extremely irresponsible not to provide AT LEAST a classroom per grade, per school, where masking is required in the classroom… and far better to require masking for all unvaccinated individuals in our schools, with only the exception of medical hardship with a legitimate doctor’s note. Most of us do not want virtual instruction again, but we DO want the opportunity to send our children to safe in-person school! The scientific research and recommendations from CDC and AAP are clear. Please keep your politics out of this decision.

This variant makes children unvaccinated very vulnerable. Masking is so simple to stem the horrific possibility of infection of our young. Better to be cautious then sorry!
