Brunswick Street E17 Trees

We the undersigned residents of Brunswick Street E17 wish to state our strong resistance to current plans to remove all existing trees from this street and replace them with Japanese Privet trees.
1. We accept that terminally diseased trees need to be replaced. However, based on the example of Ickworth Park Road, E17 (which we have all seen firsthand or in photographs), we firmly believe that Japanese Privet is the wrong choice for Brunswick Street. In our view, this species would not be in keeping with our street and would negatively impact on its character.
2. We also assert that the way the issue has been presented to us by Waltham Forest Council / Gristwood and Toms as a fait accompli has shown a lack of respect for the views of residents who value their street and who will live with the replacement trees for the years and decades to come.
We therefore request a postponement of the proposed tree removals to allow for proper discussion of a mutually acceptable replacement tree.
We will be very happy to host relevant representatives of Waltham Forest Council / Gristwood and Toms at a meeting with Brunswick Street residents to discuss this matter at a mutually convenient time.
