Like many other members I was shocked to hear of Beth,s departure. She was synonymous with the BTC, the two went hand in hand. David Port Membership # 973.

As BT members and active volunteers in the Beaver Valley section, we request more information on the departure of Beth G.

Member 6285 (I've already signed but wanted to add some topics and thoughts for discussion.) If information has not been released, there has to be a reason for it. What is the reason? Maybe the Board doesn't have to tell us what caused them to dismiss Beth, but they should tell us why that information is being held back. If the board is forced to release this info, will it look negatively on the BTC or on Beth? When Beth looks for new work she will include a reference to her time at the BTC -- but it should really be a list of the thousands of members who have seen the progress she has brought. What will the BTC tell her prospective employers? What kind of negative PR will this have on fund raising and land securement? I'm not sure this has been thought through: I got a request for a donation in the mail today -- and it's over Beth's signature. I'm reconsidering future gifts. The BTC has progressed immensely under Beth, will this change and the reasons for it undo some of that work? One of the comments stated that the BTC and Beth were synonymous. I see that point of view. We all believe in the BTC, donate, volunteer. We all want to see the BTC continue to thrive. This sort of sudden and precipitous action by the Board suggests a much bigger emergency behind the scenes than the announcement does.

New boards often think they are new brooms. Be transparent.

The current executive likely had good reasons forvtheir decision but I agree members deserve to know more. I am hoping there are no legal barriers to divulging that information.

#15187. I have just read "Trail to the Bruce" and felt so relieved that the BTC now seemed on a clear and steady course, with Beth at the helm. I would be upset to see another era of uncertain goals and dissention. Please let the membership know what direction the Directors now intend to go and why a change was needed.

I am deeply saddened by this turn of events because whenever I saw or heard Beth she radiated her love and devotion to the Bruce Trail

I have been a member since 1976 and active on the Toronto BTC board for many years. I have heard many good things about Beth’s leadership. We need a full explanation at the very least.

I find I highly unusual that there wouldn’t be a reasonable reason accompanying Beth’s departure! It leaves too many questions about the integety of the board and the leaving E.D. I do hope the numbers will allow the membership honest answers and renewed confidence in the BTA board!
